I had a delightful morning yesterday at the Compton Gardens Retirement Community in Aspley where I was able to spread the word about the ‘Council Cabs’ Program. This program helps residents who find it difficult to get to the shops to move around our suburbs, and fares cost between $1 and $2.50 each way.
Council Cabs are organised shared taxis which operate at scheduled times for residents who are either over 60, have impaired mobility or are holders of a Pensioner Concession Card or Centrelink Seniors Card. Users can also be accompanied by a carer or child under their care.
As an example, it’s great to see that residents living in Aspley can organise a Council cab to take them to and from the Chermside Library (near Westfield Chermside) every Tuesday at a cost of $1.50 each way. All you need to do is call 07 3403 2227 by midday the day before your trip.
You can find out which locations are available for your suburb using the link below.
It’s always a pleasure to visit Compton Gardens Aspley – thank you for having me!
